LEAADS is a group of network of women faculty committed to LEading Advocacy and Action for a Diverse LeaderShip at Penn State. This talk will discuss the formation of LEAADS and the projects we have tackled and will tackle. A Brazilian Woman's Journey in Natural Science and Avian Speciation Studies
I will share my career experiences, with a focus on my work at a museum of natural science and extensive fieldwork in the Amazon Forest. I will discuss the unique challenges and opportunities I encountered, as well as the insights gained from working in a historically male-dominated field. Additionally, I will delve into my recent research on bird hybridization, exploring new methodologies that leverage genomics and cell cultures.
